A little more about who we are
Words from our founder, Sue Evans
We at Headroom believe in young people, and hope to demonstrate a way to see them clearly, to be able to look past the presenting behaviours without judgement, or condemnation, and see them instead through compassionate and understanding eyes. We aspire to be a resource like no other, that can demonstrate we really get what’s going on for that young person, and for that family, and that we can bring relief, hope and assurance to those that choose to engage with us. We help parents and young people to experience a lightbulb moment that tells them “ I think we can do this, with support like this - we can change!” We exist to facilitate change in the home, breaking deadlock and disharmony, resentments and hostility, and shine light into the corners where communication has faltered or ceased altogether and to break down barriers of helplessness and hopelessness. We enable parents and carers to believe again in the very best in their teenagers and focus on the amazing, exciting and gifted individuals that they are and celebrate all that’s wonderful about them. We believe it is the greatest privilege to be allowed to be part of these changes, to give young people their voice, to start to discover who they are and encourage them to be the best they can possibly be. Ultimately we exist to support young people to learn how to be proud, to be positive, to be happy with all that they are.
MEET THE TEAM
Children's and Adolescent's Counsellor
I am a trainee counsellor and yoga teacher, specialising in neurodiversity, trauma and disordered eating. I constantly learn from the young people I support as we explore ways to manage the various challenges of life. I enjoy working with a range of ages from children to young adults and use a variety of approaches in my sessions such as, the arts, play therapy, and yoga and mindfulness.
Specialist Parenting Counsellor
I have 10 years previous experience working as mental health social worker supporting parents and vulnerable families with complex needs. I am now in the final year of Counselling training with Headroom and am kind, warm and compassionate, with a belief that it is of great importance and a privilege to spend time listening to parents and empowering them, to move forward in their relationships with their children.

MEET THE TEAM
Our Fabulous Trustees
I am a local resident of 12 years and am a huge advocate for equality and opportunity for all, in particular marginalised and vulnerable groups in our community. I bring my passion for this cause and my experience from my role at Rushmoor CAB to inform and support the work of Headroom.
I have volunteered in the local community for a range of causes, and have a background in financial administration. For 6 years I worked with a local young people's charity in this capacity so have a solid understanding of the challenges small charities face and am totally committed to supporting the growth of this new charity.
I have worked with this sector of our community for over 10 years as both volunteer and now as a qualified counsellor working with young people and adults with complex needs. My life's experiences have equipped me to fully appreciate the challenges faced by those we are supporting and to offer Headroom my expertise ensuring we deliver the best possible services for them
I have lived in and served the young and vulnerable members of the community of Rushmoor for 18 years, including managing a local young people's charity with a similar vision to Headroom. I'm delighted to bring both my passion and experience to continue driving up standards of compassionate care and support to those who need it the most
