A little more about who we are
ABOUT US
Words from our founder, Sue Evans
We at Headroom believe in young people, and hope to demonstrate a way to see them clearly, to be able to look past the presenting behaviours without judgement, or condemnation, and see them instead through compassionate and understanding eyes. We aspire to be a resource like no other, that can demonstrate we really get what’s going on for that young person, and for that family, and that we can bring relief, hope and assurance to those that choose to engage with us. We help parents and young people to experience a lightbulb moment that tells them “ I think we can do this, with support like this - we can change!” We exist to facilitate change in the home, breaking deadlock and disharmony, resentments and hostility, and shine light into the corners where communication has faltered or ceased altogether and to break down barriers of helplessness and hopelessness. We enable parents and carers to believe again in the very best in their teenagers and focus on the amazing, exciting and gifted individuals that they are and celebrate all that’s wonderful about them. We believe it is the greatest privilege to be allowed to be part of these changes, to give young people their voice, to start to discover who they are and encourage them to be the best they can possibly be. Ultimately we exist to support young people to learn how to be proud, to be positive, to be happy with all that they are.
